About UNITAR and IEFPA

What is UNITAR?

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is a principal training arm of the United Nations, working in every region of the world. We empower individuals, governments and organizations through knowledge and learning to effectively overcome contemporary global challenges. UNITAR was established in 1963 by the General Assembly of the United Nations with the purpose of enhancing the effectiveness of the UN through appropriate training and research.

What are UNITAR’s mission and functions?

UNITAR’s mission is to develop capacities to enhance global decision-making and to support country level action for shaping a better future. The Institute: designs and delivers innovative training to address needs of individuals, organizations and institutions; facilitates knowledge and experience-sharing through networked and innovative processes; conducts research on and pilots innovative learning strategies, approaches and methodologies; and advises and supports governments, UN and other partners with technology-based knowledge-related services.

What is IEFPA?

The Public Finance Institute of Argentina is a non-profit center for studies in public finance, with legal personality as a civil association in the Republic of Argentina (resolution 284 of the 1-4-1996 granted by the General Inspection of Justice). It is dedicated to the analysis, research and training in the sciences that make up Public Finance. Since its founding in April 1996, it has played and important role in receiving and disseminating ideas and experiences, as well as a place for reflection and training of professionals involved in Public Finance.

The activities of IEFPA are centered around four main areas:

  • Teaching
  • Communication
  • Technical publications
